Description
The Alto Bikepacking two-person is a semi-freestanding tent perfect for weight-conscious bikepackers and who still want a high degree of liveability in their shelter.
Sea to Summit’s engineers took the ultralight Alto TR2, equipped it with a poleset with shorter pole segments, and designed function-specific storage sacks to mount on your bike.
The revolutionary Tension Ridge architecture of the Alto allows for taller oversized doors and vertical walls that create an unrivalled amount of space. Apex Vents positioned at the highest point of the tent effectively expel moist air and minimize condensation, and the variable rainfly can be rolled back on both sides for stargazing, then deployed quickly from inside the tent.
‘Alto’ is the Italian word for ‘high’. One night will prove that the Alto is a level above other ultralight tents
Please note: Due to the bikepacking concept, this tent does not contain a lightbar (like our other Alto tents).
DESIGN DETAILS
Tension Ridge architecture delivers a better space-to-weight ratio than any tent in its class.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
The poles of the Tension Ridge are swept upwards like the dihedral wing of an airplane – not angled downwards as is common in tents. This raises the tent’s shape, providing significantly more head and shoulder room, higher doors, easier access and more usable vestibule space.
Typical of Sea to Summit’s commitment to refining details to make gear frictionless and more functional, these machined aluminum clips make setting up the rainfly (either with the inner tent, or with a footprint in ultralight configuration) quick and easy. And they are far more durable than plastic buckles.
The gold standard in tent poles — our tents combine DAC Featherlite NFL, NSL and PRESSFIT sections.
Mounted at the highest point, Apex Vents allow warm moist air to escape and channel fresh air into the tent. The vent can easily be zipped shut from inside the tent and does not require mesh to retain its shape, significantly improving airflow. Baseline Vent allows you to control humidity in wet conditions by opening or closing lower portion of the door while maintaining vestibule function and rain protection for your gear.

Powerhouse Collaboration
How it started
"When we decided to take on ultralight backpacking tents, I knew who I wanted to collaborate with—master tent maker Jake Lah.
Jake is the father of modern tent architecture, and his company DAC produces some of the best aluminum poles in the world.
Both of us are driven by producing something better than what’s already out there—and I think we’ve achieved that with our ultralight backpacking tents.
The Alto and Telos deliver exceptional height and space—and are loaded up with unexpected features like adjustable venting and our unique Hangout Mode. They are, quite possibly, the most livable ultralight backpacking tents out there."
